CEO and Designer, Thee Black Jack

How would you describe your personal style? I have a very intense personal life simply because I am very involved with my business, and we are at the growth stages, which requires my full attention. However, I am blessed to have three hobbies that I enjoy that keep me going.

Go-to brand: Thee Black Jack.

Go-to store: Black Jack at International Plaza in Tampa.

I’d never be caught dead wearing: I will never be caught wearing uncomfortable clothes.

Biggest style icon: Mehdi Raad of MACEOO clothing brand.

Five items in your wardrobe you couldn’t do without: I love all my Black Jack shirts, my Robert Graham shirts, my True Religion jeans, my Diesel jeans and my MACEOO shirts.

How/When did you get interested in fashion/style? I was lucky to grow up in a family where my mom was a seamstress and a designer. Being the youngest boy in the family, she relied on me to help her most of the time. Over time, I developed a desire for fabrics and sewing and stitching, and 27 years later I am fully in fashion.

Fashion weakness: Ties and great-looking shirts. I probably own over 200 of both.

Biggest fashion regret: I bought a slim-fit jacket once that I did not try on in the store because I was in a hurry, only to realize that my arms were too tight in it. I still wore it out, but it was the most uncomfortable thing ever.
